A Good Piece on the Plight of Exonerated Convicts

Reuters making up for the junk article on spanking I guess.

if we want to do the right thing anyone falsely imprisoned should be given at least $240,000 a year. Prison is a horror and if you are going to steal a man or womans life than you ought to pay them for it. Twenty thousand a month is a pittance compared to what an inmate has to go through.

If the State or Municipality can’t afford it. Tough. Thats the breaks. I have no problem with Federal seizures of state or municipal property till the debt is paid. As I see it if they had provided adequate funds for the defense and done their job right in the first place than they wouldn’t be in the bind.

As for those people who have been sent away because of wrong doing by the government. Well I am not in favor of the death penalty but I’d be sore tempted to impose it. Nothing is the worse than that sort of tyranny.

Instead I’d guess we should make the wrong doers pay with life in prison and as much of the $20K per month as they have. Loosing everything is a pretty fair penalty.

If you want to help prevent this sort of thing the Innocence Project can always use your help.
