Moon Prosper on Open Carry
The L.A. Times had an interesting article on people who want to carry guns openly instead of concealed.
This isn’t wrong. There is a right to bear arms. However its really rude. We live in very safe society and we don’t need to pack weapons.
What it tells people is not “I am ready to help you.” but “I am expecting trouble” and “I don’t trust you.” It also scares people. And despite what the gun people like to say, its not about being afraid of guns . Its about being uncomfortable around strangers carrying deadly weapons.
People need to understand that a lot of us want peace not a society geared to war and violence. Its what we should all strive for together.
Carrying openly just says “Its never safe to stand down or to trust your neighbors” even when it is safe.
So please if you must carry around people,and its not your job to carry a gun, carry concealed. Its more respectful than sharing your fear with others.
