Why my own Government Scares me more than the Terrorists
Despite what 24 and the “colored coded” wannabe fascist wants us to think, the terrorists are much of threat . First they are very far away . Second and more importantly they just aren’t all that effective.
All the stuff we are supposed to be afraid off. Mostly piffle.
Anthrax? The US had been there, had that happen.
Bio weapons in the food ? Had that in 1984 with nary an effect.
Explosives? Had years of that in the 1960’s and 70’s — and of course the Unabomber. Didn’t accomplish a thing.
Oh sure they could shoot up someplace or other. The thing is that stuff happens so often in this country that anyone not in the same town as the occurrence is pretty much likely to let loose with a a resounding meh.
So Al -Qaida and the other bad guys need something big, real big. Unless they somehow against all odds get hold of a big WMD there is little they can do to any of us. And lets be clear they don’t have the ability. They aren’t going to get a WMD anywhere.
Now our government on the other hand , well even when they aren’t being outright malicious they screw something up every single day.
Torture? Yep, even on US Nationals. That means potentially you and me, let me repeat, thats any of us, any time.
Immigration deporting US citizens ? Yep
War on Drugs scaring or hurting innocent people. Every Day.
Taser misuses by police? Over 200. . And it goes on and on.
Not to put to fine a point on it. The problem is at home. Bad guys at every level of our government wants a police state, bad. More than anything. More than freedom. More than peace. More than justice. More than honor.
Thats what scares me. Those jerks getting more and power from a scared populace. Not some half mythical boogeyman who got in a lucky one time shot.
